A movie that became a super duper hit owing to the melodiousness of its songs and the very genuine acting skills of its lead actors, Aandhi is the 1970s movie that touches a chord even today. In today’s society, love stories are rampant with compromises, break-ups, patch-ups, friendship with exes, betrayal and much more. But Aandhi caught all of the action in its storyline back in the seventies. Although the drama was exempted and pain was shown minimally in the movie, the fact that the two lead characters played by Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen, express the fact that they miss each other at different stages of life is what is needed even today.
1. Young Love:
The buoyancy of youth is so well depicted in the movie, that even a contemporary viewer can relate to it.
2. Separation due to worldly commitments:
Husband and wife go separate ways due to commitment to different careers.
3. People meeting and falling back in love after separation:
Their meeting in between their individual, demanding roles helps them fall back in love and relive the romance.
4. Love in old age:
Love is best defined when in advanced age two beings understand each other’s needs like never before. And they are still ready to sacrifice everything for their love. In this case, they sacrificed each other’s precious company.
5. Dying for the cause of humanity:
The lead heroine of the movie dies in the end while addressing a rally. Need better reason to call this movie eternal?
