In a rare example of a song being more successful in promoting a film, than the main film trailer itself, Kajol-SRK’s Gerua is a rare gem in cinematic history. Rohit Shetty and team had a field time capturing their on screen romance with some misses, and a great many hits. Sad that the magic was limited to only the songs in the movie Dilwale. But here is the bright side- Gerua has ten awesome facts hidden in it that makes it the most famous song of December 2015.
Kajol’s Evergreen Presence:
Her eyes, make-up and wardrobe with elegant sarees and fashionable long skirts were glamorously beautiful but nothing could overstep the effervescent beauty of the actress. Her comeback movie was fresh as ever.
The ice capped mountains, the frozen sea and the black soil, every element of beauty in Iceland has been so adeptly captured by the team. A lot of awards for the cinematography await the team behind the shooting.
Although we are used to him serenading the lead lady in many films, this song had a level of maturity to it that is hard to describe. The amount of restraint in Shahrukh Khan’s expressions showed how experienced an actor he is. This was matched to perfection by Farah Khan’s choreography and Kajol’s restrained expressions.
Behind The Waterfall:
The waterfall scenes had everything a director could wish for. A rainbow, SRK-Kajol on a cliff, and an illustrious waterfall with its natural rainbow, all these elements nailed it for Rohit Shetty. The icing on the cake comes with the behind the waterfall scene which according Kajol could have been SRK’s last shot since she saved his life after the shot.
The Flying Dupatta:
The title track has the famous broken plane and boat sequences in which the duo create a classy scene with the “Rang Tu Mohe Gerua” flourish, the scene is complete with the flying orange dupatta, that was actually let to fly by Rohit Shetty himself, standing on a high ladder at a little distance from the plane. So, he actually directed the Dupatta as well.
The Broken Plane:
After the song has released, people are going crazy around this little known broken plane that actually lies on the black beach next to the sea. Today, it is a historic spot for Kajol-SRK fans. And yes, the plane was indeed a beautiful addition to the already beautiful location of the song.
SRK’s Pigeon Entry:
As a first, birds flying and Shahrukh Khan making his entry is definitely one beautiful magic moment that happens to the beat of the song right at the beginning. Can any one tell us a better entry for Shahrukh in any other romantic song? We donot think there is any.
The Photo Frame:
In order to depict the moment stopping by, a vintage life size photoframe was used to capture real life Shahrukh and Kajol lipping the song in it. That definitely is a first for this Jodi!
The “Duwa” Moment:
The lady in the song gave everyone a fresh feel with her expression of Haan..Nikli Hain DIl Se Yeh Duwa! Looks like the shot which Adi Chopra so wanted Kajol to master in the DDLJ opening scene, finally came through in this song.
A placid lake full of picturesque icebergs was the last thing we needed in the chill of December. But when we saw the same in Gerua, we never felt any chills, right? How could we? Kajol and SRK were firing them up with their ever sweet romance.
